New Tutorial Is Almost Ready

I am finishing the new tutorial, Faux Porcelain Heart Necklace with Hand-Made Necklace Ends.

This tutorial will explain how to make the focal pendant for the necklace, as well as the necklace ends, and how to put it all together into a multi-string necklace with seed beads and fresh-water pearls. The resulting necklace is very delicate and romantic, perfect for any time of the year.

The heart pendant recreates the look of hand-sculpted porcelain in polymer clay. My Grandma used to have a beautiful collection of porcelain vases and trinket boxes. They were very delicate, with tiny hand-sculpted flowers. I remember my fascination with them when I was a little girl...

For this necklace, I decided to make a pair of matching polymer clay necklace ends, because anything metal seemed a bit out of place with this design. Making them is quite easy, actually. In fact, the whole project is rather simple, and does not require any previous experience with polymer clay. List of tools and materials is also short and simple. You do not even need a pasta machine to do it!

Family Heirloom, Preserved

I am ready to share pictures of my recent work, just in time for Valentine's Day. I made this set of earrings and a pendant for my neighbor. She had an old watch, a family heirloom, which did not work anymore. I took it apart and made it into this pendant. I was even able to preserve the back of the old watch (with initials P.P.) by attaching it to the back of the pendant. The pendant is made from brown polymer clay. One side of it has the watch parts and the other is decorated with crackled gold metal leaf. The pendant is covered with clear resin to create a smooth, glass-like surface. The matching earrings are adorned with fresh-water pearls.

New Steampunk Heart

I started listing my new heart pendants in my shop on Etsy.com. This is one of them. I am experimenting with the backgrounds, too.

This is the new pendant in my Heart of the Mechanical Doll series.

The base of the pendant is polymer clay. One side is made with crackled silver leaf, the other with watch parts, and then everything is covered with clear resin. The pendant has a smooth glass-like surface, which I really like.
